Sue Robertson Danells
Author of Bittersweet
Hello, Iām Sue Robertson Danells. I spent my working life in education, writing countless reports and documents, and teaching children how to craft stories, never thinking I would write a novel myself.
That changed after my father passed away, when more than thirty years of researching my family history revealed a long lost ancestor who vanished from the records. His story haunted me, and what began as curiosity turned into something I couldn't let go. I wrote it down, resulting in my first self-published novel, When Darkness Falls, published at age 71 so my 95-year-old mother could hold it in her hands. I have since revised and crafted this into a new edition titled The Pledge.
I was bitten by the writing bug and went on to write Bittersweet, now available in print, ebook, and audio. I am also the author of an ongoing crime trilogy following DI Maggie Dent in both her working and personal lives, which includes The Long Game and Too Late for Forgiveness (with the third book arriving by the end of 2026).
If there is one message I want to share, it is that you are never too old to start something new. You don't need permission, you just need a story that won't let you go. I didn't set out to become an author, but I became one, and you can too.
